• Survey is a method of collecting data or information about a population using a question or a set of questions designed to do so.

Solved Example on Survey

Bill asked his classmates to name their favorite fruit. The table shows the survey results. How many students chose apples as their favorite fruit?

                       

Choices:

A.  23

B.  4

C.  7

D.  9

Correct Answer: D

Solution:

Step 1:  Frequency shows the number of students who chose apple as their favorite fruit.

Step 2: The frequency given for apple is 9.

Step 3: From the survey results, we learn that apple is the favorite fruit of 9 students.
