Definition of Slide

  • Slide is a transformation in which every point of the plane figure moves in the same direction by the same distance. A slide is also called as translation.

                            

Examples of Slide

  • The following figure shows a slide or translation.
  • Figure-1 is translated to Figure-2 by moving Figure-1 to its right.

Observe that each point in Figure-2 is the same distance (5 units) from the corresponding point in Figure -1.
