Definition of Conjugates

• When the sum of two terms is written as a difference, the latter is called the conjugate of the former or vice-versa.

 

Examples of Conjugates

Expression	Conjugate
a - 2	a + 2
x + √y	x - √y
1 - sinA	1 + sinA
13 + √5	13 - √5

Choose the conjugate of the complex number - 18 + √8.
Choices:

A. - 18 - √8
